How To Help Your Baby Adjust to Daylight Savings

Falling Back

How do we help our precious little ones, who are sleeping so well and are on such wonderful schedules adjust to the extra hour in the day?

Well, you can choose to go “cold turkey” and
stick to your normal timing, regardless of the extra hour gained. And some babies will be just fine with this approach!

However, if you are worried that gaining an hour will disrupt your perfect schedule, then you can begin helping baby adjust, 15 minutes at a time.

HERE IS HOW
Begin a week before the time change.
Day 1-2: Begin dinner and bedtime routine 15 minutes earlier than normal. (if you normally feed your baby at 5:00, then begin the process at 4:45)
Day 3-4: Begin dinner and bedtime routine another 15 minutes earlier than normal. (now you are beginning the process at 4:30)
Day 5-6: Begin dinner and bedtime routine another 15 minutes earlier than normal. (now you are beginning the process at 4:15)
Day 7: Begin dinner and bedtime routine another 15 minutes earlier than normal. (now you are beginning the process at 4:00)
And since 4:00 will really feel like 5:00, your baby will be ready to roll with the time change!
